When Ironton High School students resumed classes on Tuesday, they were welcomed by a new principal. Dean Nance, a native of the Franklin Furnace area, takes over for Larry Stall. Prior to being named the IHS principal, Nance served as an administrator in the Wheelersburg school district. Nance said he is "very impressed" with the IHS student body and staff, stating "it seems like we operate as a team." He added the students were "receptive to the feeling that we are all working in unison to make IHS the best for both the students and the faculty." Nance spent most of the first day of school observing classes and talking with students. He closed by saying "I am proud to be a Tiger and all others should be" during the day’s end announcement. IHS will have an open house Sept. 11 from 4-6 p.m. All teachers will be in classrooms to answer questions.
