BEAVER – The Green Lady Bobcats heard coach Melissa Knapp loud and clear. After losing her voice in last week’s game, Knapp was talking at the top of her lungs Monday during halftime with Green leading the Eastern Lady Eagles just 23-22.

"I could talk this week, but they probably didn’t want to hear me," Knapp said of her halftime speech.

The "motivational" speech worked as Green came back to win 58-38 in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

"We were kind of down after the Clay loss and I think it carried over to tonight. We did a lot of standing around. We had no intensity. But we picked it up the second half and that’s the reason we won," Knapp said.

Megan Tackett scored five points the first quarter to put Green up 11-9. She had six more the second quarter and then knocked down nine points the third quarter as the Lady Bobcats outscored Eastern 20-8 to take a 43-30 lead.

Samantha Jenkins scored six the fourth quarter and Green converted 9-of-12 free throws to clinch the win. Jenkins was 4-for-4 and Meagan Pierce 3-for-4 from the line.

Tackett finished with 22 points. Jenkins and Leigh Ann Williams scored 10 points each for Green, 3-2 and 3-1 in the SOC.

GALLIPOLIS – The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings are on a winning streak.

For the first times in several seasons, the Vikings won their second straight game Thursday with a 55-21 rout of the Ohio Valley Christian Defenders.

"We limited out turnovers and our offense was clicking. They’re believing in themselves and I’m really proud of them," Lady Vikings coach Lisa Bryant said.

"We shot 40 percent from the field. We’re getting better offensively. We’re starting to jell and come together. Their confidence is going up."

Keren Bell had 11 points and eight rebounds to pace the win. Cassie Myers also scored 11 points for the Lady Vikings, 2-3.
