The finals of the fourth annual Hornets Nest/Giovanni’s Pizza Freshman Invitational basketball tournament are set as the Ironton Fighting Tigers play the Chesapeake Panthers.

The championship game is set for Monday at the Hornets new gym following the consolation game at 6:30 p.m. between the Rock Hill Redmen and South Point Pointers.

Ironton beat Rock Hill 35-27 in Thursday’s first game of the semifinals. Chesapeake advanced to the title game again with a 44-38 overtime win over South Point.

The Fighting Tigers used a balanced attack as Marcus Williams scored 10, Josh Adkins eight, and Shane Kerns seven.

Brandon Medinger had 10 points and Nick Snavely nine to pace Rock Hill.

Chesapeake outscored South Point 10-6 in overtime to get the win in the second game. Jackson Caynor scored 17 points – four in overtime- and Trent Finley had 15 to lead the Panthers.

South Point had three players in double figures as David Theis scored 14, jay Graham 12, and Justin Workman 11.
