WILLOW WOOD — Making things hard made it look easy.

The Rock Hill defense made it hard for the Symmes Valley offense and in turn got away with a 44-33 road win Monday over the Lady Vikings.

“Our defense was better. We didn’t give up any easy looks and that’s a key for us. We took care of the ball and we were patient. We didn’t force too much,” said Rock Hill coach Matt Fulks.

Providing the big defensive efforts were Anna Bridges and Bobbi Harper. Bridges had four blocked shots and held Tiffany Bryant to 10 points. Harper held the Lady Vikings Emily Bowling in check with 15 points.

“Symmes Valley has been playing well and they have two really nice players. Anna did a good job on Bryant and we contained Bowling with Bobbi Harper. It was a good win for us, especially on the road,” said Fulks.

Brooke Long led Rock Hill (8-10) with 16 points and Harper scored 12 to go with 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. Elisha Daniels grabbed 11 rebounds.

“Elisha Daniels stepped up on the boards,” said Fulks.

Symmes Valley took an 11-10 lead at the end of the first quarter, but Bridges scored 6 of her 8 points in the second quarter as the Redwomen took a 20-17 halftime lead.

The Redwomen were up 32-26 after three quarters and Long poured in 10 points in the fourth quarter as Rock Hill continued to pull away.
