Bouncing back meant bouncing high.

After a lopsided loss to 10-ranked Oak Hill on Wednesday, the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers bounced back on Thursday to beat the Green Lady Bobcats 68-49.

Ironton rebounded thanks to the rebounding – and scoring – of Candace Ferguson. The junior center had 26 points and 16 rebounds as three players reached double figures.

Andrea Rudmann scored 19 points and Ashley Hannon scored 15 to help Ironton improved its record to 6-12.

"I’m proud of our girls’ effort tonight. We showed a lot of heart tonight by bouncing back from the loss to Oak Hill," Ironton coach Kevin Richardson said. "Green tried to deny Ashley, so we tried to get Candace involved early."

Ferguson got involved with eight points the first quarter as Ironton took a 14-10 lead. She scored six more the second quarter and the lead was 25-23 at the half.

Meagan Pierce scored all nine of her points the first half to keep Green on Ironton’s heels.

The Lady Bobcats shifted their defensive efforts to Ferguson the third quarter and went ahead 35-29. But Hannon scored eight points and Ironton went on a 14-3 run to close the quarter to lead 43-38.

Megan Tackett had 11 points including a pair of 3-pointers in the quarter for Green.

Tackett had eight points the fourth quarter, but Ironton began to pull away as Rudmann and Ferguson combined for 18 points.

Tackett finished with 24 points. Samantha Jenkins added 11 points.

Ironton hosts Coal Grove Thursay in the season finale.
