The recent report released by the Ironton-Lawrence County Community Action Organization about its countywide recycling and litter prevention program is encouraging, but at the same time disheartening.
According to the report, the litter collection program removed over 132 tons of trash from state and county roads. The encouraging part is that the CAO – with the help of some other fine organizations – was able to do this for the county. The disheartening part is they shouldn’t have had to.
We, as residents, should take pride in our county and do everything we can to make it look good. Not littering is one way we can do this. We all should do our part so when the CAO releases its report next year, that figure will be much, much smaller.
