PEDRO – Fairland Lady Dragons coach Nathan Speed just wanted his team to keep playing well.

They did.

Coming off big wins over Chesapeake and Gallipolis to end the regular season, Fairland continued to play well with an 81-32 romp of the Coal Grove Lady Hornets Wednesday in the Division III sectional semifinals.

Fairland (14-6) will now play Wheelersburg at 2:45 p.m. Saturday at Rock Hill High School in the sectional finals.

"We’ve been playing so well, I was concerned about how well we would play tonight. You hope it continues and gives you some confidence and momentum," Speed said. "I was pleased with our performance. It’s not easy to play a team a third time that you’ve beaten pretty easy each time."

The big three of Jeana Diamond, Brooke Fisher, and Jennifer Jones triggered the win.

Diamond scored 22 points and had seven rebounds, Fisher had 20 points, six assists, and six steals, and Jones scored 19 points , pulled down 10 rebounds and came up with five steals.

Brooke Godby handed out eight assists.

Cassi Ball scored 11 points and Kayla Lawless eight to lead the Lady Hornets who closed out their season at 3-17.

Brooke Fisher had eight points and Jones four as Fairland raced to an 18-8 first quarter lead.

Jones scored nine and Brooke Fisher eight while the defense limited Coal Grove to two points to take an insurmountable 39-10 halftime lead.

Diamond pumped in 12 points the third quarter as Fairland stretched its lead to 59-22. Diamond had eight more points the fourth quarter to counter six points by Ball as the Lady Dragons outscored the Hornets 22-10.
