A Kentucky man attempted to run from Ironton police officers early Tuesday morning, but found himself in the Greenup County Jail instead.
Capt. Chris Bowman, a detective with the Ironton Police Department, said Terry D. Fannin of 904 Court St., Worthington, Ky., would not stop for IPD officers at about 2 a.m. Tuesday morning after they tried to stop his vehicle.
IPD officers reported that Fannin’s vehicle did not have headlights or taillights and he was driving in the wrong lane. Officers turned on their lights and sirens, but Fannin continued to flee from the patrolmen.
Fannin drove at what police called a high rate of speed down Third Street, running a stop light at the intersection of Third and Adams streets, and then crossed the Ironton-Russell Bridge. Russell police were notified and the chase continued in Kentucky until officers stopped Fannin on Kentucky Route 5.
Officers reported Fannin smelled heavily of alcohol, was uncooperative and belligerent. Fannin was subdued by officers and taken to the Greenup County Detention Center. IPD officers charged Fannin with failure to comply with order or signal of a police officer.
Fannin is facing other charges in Kentucky.
