April 8, 1920-June 16, 2002Veronica Swain, 82, of Ironton died Sunday at King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. The Lawrence County native was born April 8, 1920, the daughter of the late Edward J. and Clara Amanda Riedel Foit.
She was the wife of the late James W. Swain.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a 1938 graduate of St. Joseph High School. She was retired from Ironton City Schools, where she worked in the cafeteria, and she was a member of the CWC.
Survivors include five daughters and sons-in-law, Julia Ann and Willis Cline and Noel S. and Lowell Depriest, all of Ironton, Theresa Diane and George Kelly of Franklin Furnace, Jenifer Lynn and Jack Kimberlain of Ashland, Ky., and Mary Margaret and Tom Thomas of Rush, Ky.; one son and daughter-in-law, Mark Anthony and Linda Swain of Lafayette, Ind.; 19 grandchildren, Richard White, Gretchen White, Terri Lynn Slater, Lowell Scott Depriest, Barbara Pache, George Allen Owen, Dawne M. Swain, Angie Swain, Angie McKenzie, Prudie Copas, Stacie L. Blanton, Zachary J. Thomas, Nathaniel Thomas, Latisha Boyles, Robert Cline, Debra Cook, Patricia Cline, Dwayne Cline and Diana Cline; 18 great-grandchildren; one brother, Eugene Foit of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters, Mary Delores Bick of Utica, Calif., and Barbara Arthur of Ashland, Ky.; one sister-in-law, Betty Setter of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Father Thomas Nau officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, with a Vigil service at 8:30 p.m., at O'Keefe-Baker Funeral Home.
