July 21-1913-June 7, 2002UPPER ARLINGTON -- Wilbur H. Morrison, 88, a former resident of Upper Arlington, passed away Friday, June 7 at First Community Healthcare Center after a long struggle with Parkinson’s Disease.
He was born July 21, 1913 in Cheshire to the Rev. Charles and Myrtle Morrison, both deceased.
A longtime leader in the Central Ohio saving’s and loan industry, he began with Allemania Building & Loan and served for years as vice president and then president and chairman of its successor, Main Federal. At his retirement in 1983, he was vice chairman of Freedom Federal, Main Federal’s successor.
He graduated from Otterbein College, Class of 1934, from which he received the Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1984.He was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the West Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church.
He served as president of the Board of Trustees of Wesley Glen and Central Community House for many years. He was past president of the Southeast Lion’s Club, member of the West Gate Lodge #623 F. & A.M. Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus and Aladdin Shrine Temple.
In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by his sisters, Frances Nichols and Ruth Johnson.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jeanne Morrison; son, Thomas (Sarah) Morrison of Weston, Conn.; daughter, Diane Stanley of Worthington; grandchildren, Michael (Wendy) Matthew and Chas Morrison, and Jason, Sara and Molly Stanley; great-granddaughter Isabella Morrison; brother, Charles (Jeane) Morrison of Ironton; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral was Wednesday, June 12 at Trinity United Methodist Church, with internment at Sunset Cemetery.
