Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the theft of a bulldozer from the Lawrence County Airpark and damage done by the perpetrator to the facilities there.
Frank Thacker of South Point, who is constructing a maintenance hangar at the airpark, said a D3 bulldozer was taken sometime Saturday night. He discovered it missing Sunday.
Whoever took the dozer ran over steel construction pieces that would have been used for the new building in the process, and slightly dented the hanger. The dozer thief also damaged a landing light and part of the taxiway getting the equipment off the grounds.
Marie Phillips of Attitude Aviation, which manages the airpark, said she did not yet have figures on how much repairs would cost, but said damage would not affect operations there. Teresa Moore/The Ironton Tribune
