Local officials have a lead in the mystery of who illegally dumped construction debris at a Proctorville cemetery.
The information is being turned over to the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.
Lawrence-Scioto Solid Waste District Director Doug Cade said information possibly identifying a suspect was found among the vinyl siding, lumber and other material that was left just outside the Forgey Cemetery on County Road 408.
&uot; The lead is being pursued and measures will be taken to clean up the situation,&uot; Cade said.
Last month, residents in that area complained that someone had dumped debris just outside the small family cemetery.
Photographs taken at the site showed a sizable pile of discarded home remodeling items that had been dumped on the rural roadway.
The Lawrence County Commission agreed to allow the family members to put up a gate blocking entrance to the area to keep out people who have no business at the graveyard. Teresa Moore/The Ironton Tribune
