Two die in crash

Two passengers were killed in an early morning, one-vehicle crash on County Road 15 (Lick Creek Road) and the driver was sent to the hospital.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol received the call at 2:49 a.m. and Trooper Paul Isgett responded. The two passengers were pronounced dead at the scene and the driver was taken to Cabell Huntington Hospital with serious injuries.

The names are being withheld until the families are notified. The crash is still under investigation.

Along with the State Patrol, Southeast Ohio Emergency Medical Service and the Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department responded.

The accident involved one vehicle, a Ford Focus, and it looked like the car left the road and hit an embankment

a quarter mile out County Road 15, said Larry Anderson, assistant fire chief of the Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department.

Roger Reynolds found the wreck.

"I wish I had gotten there sooner," he said.

The Columbus office of the State Highway Patrol reported 10 fatalities during the weekend from across the state. In seven of the cases safety belts were installed but not used. From staff reports
