Fighting Tigers 7th in computer ratings

The Ironton Fighting Tigers slipped one spot, but they're sticking in the playoff hunt.

Ironton (4-1) fell from sixth to seventh in the Ohio High School Athletic Association second week of computer playoff ratings.

The Fighting Tigers have a 7.6870 average but fell one spot when Fairfield Union leapfrogged from eighth to fourth.

Ironton has a big points game Friday against Ashland.

Also, Portsmouth moved into first place with New Lexington dropping to second. Martins Ferry remained third.

After Fairfield Union was Coshocton, Portsmouth West at 8.3000, Ironton, and Bellaire. Waverly was ninth and Westfall 10th.

In region 23 of Division V, the Symmes Valley Vikings cracked the top 10 as they placed 10th in Region 23 of Division VI. The Vikings (3-2) have a 3.3500 average.

In Region 19 of Division V, Wheelersburg was sixth this week.

Woodsfield Monroe leads the region followed by Johnstown-Northridge, Barnesville, Amanda-Clearcreek, Lucasville Valley, Wheelersburg, Crooksville, and Newcomerstown.

The top eight teams in each region of each division qualify for the post season tournament.
