The second of two public forums on the future of the Ironton City School system will be hosted this evening at Ohio University Southern. School officials want input on the schools strategic plan that will map the district's future for the next 5 years.

"We very much want the community involved," Board member Teresa Parker said. She noted that dozens of parents attended school board meetings this year to voice their opposition to closing West Ironton Elementary. She said she hoped that the people who attended the school board meetings and signed up to work on district committees will attend the forum. "Let's be part of the planning group not only for the bad things but for the good things as well."

A strategic planning committee met three days late last month to develop initial ideas for the plan.
