Someone set the alarm for about 40 minutes earlier.

The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers started off slow once again, then turned it up the second half as they downed the South Point Lady Pointers 69-48 Monday to remain unbeaten.

The game was tied at the half, but then Ironton (3-0) outscored the Lady Pointers 44-23 the second half to win going away.

"Our shots weren't falling the first half. Once we hit a few shots, we started to get a little confidence and then we just got on a roll," Ironton coach Amy Hughes said.

Candace Ferguson had 20 points -- 14 the second half -- and 10 rebounds for Ironton. Andrea Rudmann also had 20 points plus six assists while Sara Hacker had 12 points and a dozen rebounds.

"Candace and Sara did a nice job on the boards, and Candace and Andrea did a nice job offensively the second half," Hughes said. "We still aren't consistent, but that will come. We'll get better."

Rachel Wylie turned in a steady performance with six rebounds and three assists. Ashley Hannon had 9 points and five steals.

"Ashley did a nice job defensively. She's really been playing well on the defensive end of the floor for us every night," Hughes said.

Allison Perdue and Jessi Craft had 10 points each to lead the Lady Pointers, 1-2 on the season. Latisha Koukos added 9 points.

Ferguson had 6 points in the first quarter as Ironton led 12-10, but Craft had 6 points the second quarter as South Point drew even.

Ironton went on a 7-2 run to start the second half. Hannon then hit a 3-pointer at the 3:55 mark and it was 35-29.

Koukos made a foul shot to get the Pointers within 38-30, but Ferguson and Rudmann hit layups to a 42-30 lead. Perdue's short jumper and a layup by Sarah Stevens cut the Ironton lead to 42-34 at the end of the quarter.

But the Lady Tigers ran off 10 unanswered points to begin the fourth quarter and never looked back, building as much as a 25-point lead.
