There wasn't anything wrong with the Ironton Fighting Tigers eyesight this time.

After struggling with its shooting the first two games, Ironton found its shooting eye Tuesday night in a 67-39 win over the South Point Pointers.

The Fighting Tigers hit 26 of 63 shots for 41.3 percent as they improved to 3-0 on the season.

"We got some good looks and we knocked them down," Ironton coach Roger Zornes said. "We shot the ball better, but we can still improve. We had three in double figures which is what I like. We've got a lot of kids who can shoot the ball."

Joe Zornes, son of the head coach, and backup Dennis Gagai each scored 14 points to lead Ironton. Josh Sands had 12 points while Brigham Waginger got 9 points, six assists, and four rebounds.

Gagai had eight rebounds, and Zornes five rebounds and three assists.

"Josh had trouble at first, but he let the game come to him and the shots started to fall for him. Joe can stroke the ball, Dennis is the same way, and so is Brigham," coach Zornes said.

"I thought the kids did a good job of showing patience when we got in our halfcourt offense. We let the game come to us."

Seth Craft scored 13 points, and Calvin Robinson had 12 points and nine rebounds to pace the Pointers (1-3).

After Jay Graham hit a layup to tie the game at 2-2, Nick Collins made a layup to put Ironton up for good at 4-2 with 5:12 left in the first quarter.

Waginger's 15-footer gave Ironton a 13-5 lead at the end of the first quarter. Kevin Williams nailed a 3-pointer to start a 9-0 run and stake Ironton to a 29-13 lead with 1:26 left in the half.

Craft hit a 3-pointer with 10 seconds on the clock and it was 29-16.

Joe Zornes drained a 3-pointer at the buzzer to end the third quarter and give Ironton a 52-30 lead. South Point could get only as close as 58-39 on a layup by Robinson with 4:42 to play, but the Pointers went scoreless the rest of the game.

The Pointers Mikey Curtis did not play due to an illness.

In the reserve game, Ironton (3-0) rolled to a 51-18 win. Dennis Gagai had 24 points -- all in the first half -- while Brent McBride scored 8 and Aaron Quinn 6. Josh Richard and Chris Layne scored 6 each for South Point.
