PEDRO -- That loud noise wasn't a bomb going off. It was an offensive explosion.

The Green Bobcats and Elliott County (Ky.) Lions combined for 50 points in the fourth quarter, and Green came away with a 68-64 win Saturday in the first game of the Ohio-Kentucky Challenge.

Ben Dyer scored 26 points -- 24 the second half -- to lead the Bobcats big fourth quarter as they rallied for the win. Dyer also had five assists and five rebounds.

Aaron Patten scored 17 points and grabbed five rebounds while Timmy Yarnell got 15 and six rebounds for the Bobcats.

Elliott Co. shot only one foul shot, but the Lions spent most of the game shooting from the outside. The Lions made 11 3-point goals.

Joe Carter led with 16 points, David Flatt had 15 points -- all on 3-pointers --

and Curtis Winkleman added 11 points.

"They could shoot it, but we did pretty well from the perimeter. We finally just started taking it to the hole," Green coach Kevin Lewis said.

Carter scored 11 points the first quarter including three 3-pointers as the Lions took a 19-14 lead. Yarnell scored 7 and Patten 5 to keep Green close.

"They jumped out on us early. We played (Friday) night and we looked tired and sluggish. We finally got it down to five and we felt good to get it down to a working distance," Lewis said.

Patten drained a pair of 3-pointers in the second quarter as Green grabbed a 27-26 halftime lead.

David Flatt made three 3-pointers as Elliot Co. regained the lead at 43-39 after three quarters.

Elliott led by 8 points early in the fourth quarter when Green's press began to force turnovers.

Dyer exploded for 18 points the fourth quarter as Green outscored the Lions 29-21. Dyer and Patten each hit two 3-pointers in the outburst to help offset Winkleman who had all 11 of his points.

"I thought our kids responded well after getting behind and looking tired. We got a roll in the fourth quarter and pulled out the win," Lewis said.
