Three accused of beating man indicted

Three adults charged in the beatings of two homeless men late last month were indicted last week by a Lawrence County grand jury.

and Tammi Brumfield, 36, both of 95 Private Drive 523, Ironton, have each been charged with two counts of second-degree felonious assault and two counts of first-degree aggravated robbery. They are all accused of beating Michael Floyd, 36, and Larry Williams, 43, at a house in the 600 block of North Fifth Street on Nov. 30. Police believe robbery was the motive for the beatings.

A 13-year-old-girl was also charged with felonious assault in the incident.

The grand jury also returned an indictment against Rick E. Cron, 46, of 1165 Rock Hollow Road, Ironton. He is accused of stabbing Noah Dean Hopper of State Route 650, Hamilton Township at the Laidback Bar Nov. 8.

Other indictments handed down included:

John P. Young, 19, 204 Chestnut St., Ironton, one count of second-degree felonious assault. He is accused of assaulting Clarence Abrams of Pedro while the two men were incarcerated at the Lawrence County Jail. The alleged incident happened Nov. 4.

John Triplett, 51, 7900 Lick Creek Road, Chesapeake, one count of unlawful sexual misconduct, one count of gross sexual imposition, both third-degree felonies. He is accused of inappropriately touching a 15-year-old girl July 1.

Tina Russell, 32, Huntington, W.Va., two counts of theft. The incidents occurred on Oct. 15.

Lawrence Pemberton, 82, gross sexual imposition with a girl under the age of 13. The incident happened Nov. 10.

Robert A. Harris Jr., 28, 1381 Boothe-Eaton Road, Chesapeake, fourth-degree felony grand theft. The incident happened May 21, 2001.

Mark A. Fankell, 43, 6557 Old U.S. 52, South Point, felonious assault, a second-degree felony, with a firearm specification. Fankell is accused of assaulting a family member on Oct. 25.

Donald R. Cremeans, 26, Huntington, W.Va., grand theft, a fourth-degree felony.

Tara Adkins, 21, Huntington, W.Va., grand theft, a fourth-degree felony.

Brian Benicker, 46, 5712 State Route 278, Willow Wood, two counts of complicity to commit burglary, a second-degree felony. he is accused of trying to solicit juveniles to

burglarize an apartment at the Lawrence Village Apartments in South Point on Sept. 27.

Clarence E. Abrams, 1823 White Oak Road, Pedro, burglary, a second-degree felony. The alleged incident happened Nov. 1.

Michael P. Fuller, 32, 254 Lancelot Drive, Chesapeake, one count of possession of criminal tools and breaking and entering, both fifth-degree felonies. The incident happened Nov. 6 .

The grand jury examined 25 cases and interviewed 41 witnessed. Twenty indictments were handed down, five of which were secret indictments.
