Santa was there, and so were several dozen smiling children. The Ironton Elks Club yesterday had their annual party for Lawrence County's multi-handicapped children. One by one, Santa visited with each child and handed them a colorful wrapped package. In return he got a lot of hugs and kisses and broad smiles.
"The whole thing is, we get more out of this than the children," Elks Club member Jim Wipert said. "It makes you feel wonderful."
Thirty-eight children attended the party. School officials send the names of the children to the club. Club members then buy presents for the children. This is the 10th year for the Elks' party.
