Ohio Southern drops two

-- Ohio-Southern, still short-handed due to injuries, fell for the fifth time in as many games.

Wright State-Celina took a 43-26 halftime lead behind Alan Vining and never trailed in an 84-72 victory over the Blazers Saturday afternoon.

The Trail Blazers (5-7) outscored Celina 46-41 in the second half, but it wasn't enough.

Freshman Shawn Newsome (Prestonsburg, Ky) led all scorers with 28 for Ohio-Southern.

Joe Fraley (Sandy Hook, Ky) and Max Hunter (Catlettsburg, Ky) scored 11 and 10, respectively.

Vining finished with 25 points for Wright State-Celina and Ben Ayers chipped in 11.

COAL GROVE -- Ohio Southern (5-7) committed six costly turnovers in overtime as it extended its losing streak to six games Sunday afternoon.

Ohio University-Lancaster outscored the Trailblazers 16-8 in the overtime period to escape with a 108-100 victory.

Todd Ingram and Romerero Prince combined for 26 points in the second half for Lancaster to help force the game into overtime. Prince finished with 22 points -- all in the second half and overtime.

Ingram, who finsished with a game-high 33 points, hit a 3-pointer with 45 seconds remaining in the regulation to tie the game at 92-92.

With the score tied again at 97-97 with 3:44 to go in

overtime, OU-Lancaster's Zach Newsome hit a bucket to give his team the lead for good.

OU-Lancaster (7-4) outscored Southern 11-3 in the final two minutes.

Freshman Max Hunter and Shawn Newsome scored 30 and 27 points respectivley to pace Ohio-Southern.

Darren Colburn scored a season-high 19 points and senior Joe Fraley added 12 points and 18 rebounds.

Steve Graham finished with 20 points for Lancaster. Newsome chipped in 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Ohio-Southern will resume play January 6 at Shawnee State University. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
