The start of the new year will bring new faces into local and state government.

At 1:30 p.m. Monday, Doug Malone and Todd Book will officially be sworn in as Lawrence County Commissioner and State Representative, respectively. The ceremony will be in the Lawrence County Common Pleas Court on the third floor of the courthouse. Common Pleas Judge Frank McCown will conduct the ceremony.

Malone said family, friends and some of the supporters who worked with him throughout his campaign will be on hand as he takes the oath of office.

Asked what he most looks forward to, Malone said just working with everyone.

"I'm there for the people," Malone said. "The people voted me in and every decision I make will be with that in mind."
