Their arrests are the result of secret indictments handed down late last month by a Lawrence County grand jury.

Authorities were dispatched shortly after midnight on Oct. 21 to the home of Keith and Andrea Kirkpatrick in Perry Township after receiving a report that an unknown number of suspects had attempted to steal a dump truck. The suspects allegedly exchanged fire with Keith Kirkpatrick, and six rounds of ammunition were recovered from the scene.

Both of the Kirkpatricks were struck by buckshot from the rounds fired. They were taken to an area hospital where Andrea Kirkpatrick was treated and released and her husband was hospitalized.

Griffith and Young were taken into custody Monday. Griffith was arraigned in Tuesday before Lawrence County Common Pleas Judge Richard Walton, who set bond at $100,000. Young was arraigned yesterday before Lawrence County Common Pleas Judge Frank McCown, who set bond at $100,000 cash or $200,000 property.
