An Ironton man is behind bars, charged with aggravated robbery in connection with an early morning hold up at a house in the 600 block of Ninth Street.
Ironton Police Detective Chris Bowman said Michael Coleman, 31, was taken into custody a short distance from where the robbery occurred. The items taken were also confiscated near where Coleman was apprehended.
Bowman said Coleman went to the residence at approximately 5:30 a.m., and when the residents opened the door, he entered and demanded money. He left with the wallets belonging to a half a dozen people at the house.
"He was wearing a ski mask and told them he had a gun," Bowman said. "The gun later turned out to be a broomstick with a knife attached to it."
Bowman said Coleman was acquainted with the victims. Coleman was taken to the Lawrence County Jail.
