Woman hurt when truck rolls on top of her

Pedro woman was injured when her 1978 Chevy truck slipped out of gear and rolled over top of her Saturday.

Ruth Lewis, of Pedro, had stopped at The Short List Carryout on State Route 93 when the incident occurred.

"She left it running and got out to come in the store," store employee John Daniels said. "I guess it went out of gear and started rolling back. She tried to jump back in to stop it and I guess the door caught her and knocked her down. It rolled over top of her."

Daniels said it appeared that the truck rolled over top of the entire length of her body. Store employees covered Lewis with blankets and called for emergency service.

Daniels said Lewis was conscious when taken to the hospital, and spoke to emergency services workers who treated her injuries. She was taken to King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.

Daniels said Lewis is a regular customer.

"I wish it hadn't happened," Daniels said.
