Tammy Brumfield, 36, also of 95 Private Drive 523, Ironton, pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of attempt to commit felonious assault. In exchange, the two counts of aggravated robbery were nullied and she has agreed to testify against the remaining adult charged in connection with the beatings.

McCown sentenced Brumfield to four years community controlled sanctions under intensive supervised probation. The first 90 days of her sentence will be served in the Lawrence County Jail. If she violates the terms of her probation, she will serve three years in prison. Brumfield was given credit for time already served.

Jeffrey Lewis, the third adult defendant in the case, is scheduled to stand trial Feb. 3 on two counts of aggravated robbery and two counts of felonious assault.

All three adults and a 13-year-old girl were accused of beating Larry Williams, 43, and Michael Floyd, 36, both of Ironton,

at a house in the 600 block of North Fifth Street on Nov. 30, 2002. Floyd was treated and released from an area hospital after the incident. Williams sustained serious injuries and spent several days in intensive care at King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. Police alleged that the two men were robbed and beaten for their Supplemental Social Security checks.

Also last week, a Lawrence County man accused of stabbing another man at The Laidback bar in Hanging Rock pleaded guilty to second-degree felonious assault.

Lawrence County Common Pleas Judge Richard Walton sentenced Rick E. Cron, 46, of 1165 Rock Hollow Road, Ironton,

to four years in prison, with credit for time served. Cron was also ordered to pay restitution for his victim's medical bills and ordered to pay court costs in the case.

Cron was arrested Nov. 9 and accused of stabbing Noah Dean Hopper

of State Route 650, Hamilton Town-ship. Witnesses said the two men had been playing pool at the bar earlier in the evening and Cron had not indicated he was upset prior to the stabbing. Later in the evening, witnesses said Cron followed Hopper into the men's room and stabbed him once in the abdomen.
