Turnovers are turnoffs for the St. Joseph Flyers.

A series of turnovers in the third quarter enabled the New Boston Tigers to open up a 9-point lead and go on to beat the Flyers 67-54 Tuesday.

"We had a stretch late in the third quarter when we had some turnovers and they turned them into points and we let the game get away from us," Flyers coach Adam Simpson said.

Messer and Mauk combined for 11 points in the second quarter to offset 6 points by Laber as New Boston rallied to take a 29-26 halftime lead.

New Boston then used 6 points by Messer to outscore St. Joseph 17-11 in the third quarter to pull away to a 46-37 lead.

Hacker scored 8 more points in the fourth quarter, but Spriggs got 8 points and Mauk 5 as New Boston maintained its lead. The Tigers converted 13 of 21 from the line in the final quarter to seal the win.

The Flyers played without starting point guard Danny Stack for the second straight game due to an illness. Simpson said Kurt Jordan and Jeremy Addis filled in admirably.

"Kurt did a nice job and Jeremy Addis did a nice job for us," Simpson said.
