Fitch, Kentucky breeze past Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) -- Gerald Fitch scored 17 points and No. 2 Kentucky shut down Arkansas in a 66-50 victory Wednesday night that extended the nation's longest winning streak to 15 games.

Eric Daniels added 10 points and three others had at least eight for the Wildcats, who were able to pull their starters with almost three minutes left.

Kentucky didn't score in the second half until two free throws by Chuck Hayes with 16:29 left gave the Wildcats a 38-31 lead. However, Arkansas scored just two points in the first 10:22 of the half.

Eric Ferguson had 13 points and Jonathan Modica added 10 for Arkansas.

Kentucky built a 48-21 lead as Hayes' eight points led a 12-2 run. The Wildcats maintained the defensive pressure as Arkansas made just five of its first 21 shots in the second half.
