The Ironton Junior Fighting Tigers 7th and 8th grade basketball teams advanced in the opening round of the Ohio-Kentucky Valley Conference tournament Saturday.

The 8th grade routed Lawrence County 61-25 as Chad Miller scored 22 points.

Ironton now plays at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Boyd County Middle School.

In the 7th grade game, John McClellan scored with 7.1 seconds remaining in the second overtime to lift Ironton past Boyd County 576-56. Marc Carter scored 23 points and Drew Kuehne 20 to pace the Tigers offense.

Ironton's 7 grade now plays at 6:15 p.m. Monday at Boyd County.
