Redmen can#039;t equal Jackson FTs

WELLSTON -- With the game on the line, the Jackson Ironmen got it done at the line.

Foul line, that is.

The Ironmen were 21 of 26 from the foul line for the game including 19 of 23 in the fourth quarter as they held off the Rock Hill Redmen 56-50 Saturday night in the Division II sectional tournament semifinals.

David Schug scored 23 points to lead Rock Hill. K. C. Christian had 13 points and Rickie McDonie added 10.

Morrow led the Ironmen with 18 points including 10 of 11 from the line in the fourth quarter. Whiteside scored 17 and Shepherd added 10.

The loss snapped a seven-game winning streak for the Redmen who finished the season 12-9.

Whiteside scored 6 of Jackson's

11 points in the first quarter while Schug had all 7 points for Rock Hill.

Neither team could score in the second quarter as Jackson took a 19-13 halftime advantage.

McDonie, plagued by foul trouble in the first half, scored 7 points in the third quarter as Rock Hill cut the deficit to 31-27.

Schug and Christian scored 9 points each in the fourth quarter, but Jackson's foul shooting proved to be too much for the Redmen to overcome.

Jackson now plays Vincent Warren at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the sectional finals.
