Maybe the prom will be over when the clock strikes midnight, but the fun will continue.

The Ironton High School after prom party at Spare Time Recreation proved to be a great success last year, and organizers have plans for another exciting post-prom extravaganza.

Organizers Stephanie Barnett, Jana Parnell and Ann Harvey have retooled this year's event to improve on last year's party.

Door prizes will be offered as well as hourly cash drawings including a final drawing for $1,000 at 5:30 a.m. when the after prom party concludes.

Also on the agenda will be billiards, bowling, lazer tag, a euchre tournament, jousting and the newest addition, bouncy boxing.

"We felt this was a good idea last year, and it was such a great success. The kids really enjoyed themselves," Harvey said. "And it helps ease any worries parents might have on prom night."

The Junior/Senior Prom will be from 8 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, May 10. The after prom party will follow from 12:30

to 5:30 a.m. No one will be admitted after 1 a.m. and if anyone leaves, they will not be allowed to re-enter. No alcoholic beverages will be permitted.

The event is held at no charge to the students. The party is for any junior or senior at Ironton High School and their prom date. Anyone who chooses not to attend the prom may still attend the prom party. The only non-Ironton High School students admitted will be those who attend the prom with an IHS student.

Donations are being accepted and interested persons may call Harvey at 533-1471, Parnell at 532-9745, Barnett at 532-1169, or the high school principal's office at 532-3911.

Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be available. Fountain drinks are provided at no cost, but a concession stand will be open for those who prefer food not provided. All concession stand items must be purchased by the students.

Parents interested in the after prom party should complete a form and return it to the high school principal's office on or before Friday, May 9.
