FLATWOODS, Ky. - Tyler Whaley is having a great season, and he did it all in one game.

In an awesome display of power, Whaley crashed three home runs and drove in 10 runs as the Ironton Fighting Tigers bounced the Russell Red Devils 20-10 Tuesday night.

Whaley went 4-for-5 and one of his home runs was a grand slam.

Derek Moore and Nick Collins also homered as Ironton (9-6) pounded out 19 hits en route to the win.

"Whaley hit some shots," Ironton coach Mark Lewis said. "He hit one that must have cleared the lights.

"But everyone in the lineup really hit the ball. Whaley hit so well, you almost didn't realize how well everyone else hit the ball."

Besides Whaley, Moore was 4-4, Kevin Williams 2-4, Matt White 2-3, Josh Sands 2-3, and Collins 2-5.

Moore, White, Sands and Mountain all doubled in the first inning as Ironton took a 3-0 lead.

Williams walked, Moore singled and Whaley slammed a three-run homer with two outs in the second and it was 6-0.

Russell got a run in the bottom of the second on a walk, a base hit and an outfield error.

Collins homered to begin a six-run third inning.

Jeff Parnell singled, Chris Collins doubled, and Williams grounded out as Parnell scored. Moore was hit by a pitch to load the bases and Whaley cranked a grand slam to make it 12-1.

But Russell came back to score six unearned runs in its half of the inning by using an error, two walks, a triple, a double and two singles to make it a 12-7 game.

After a scoreless fourth inning, Ironton got three runs in the fifth when Whaley homered following singles by Williams and Moore and it was 15-7.

The Fighting Tigers scored five more runs in the sixth inning.

Chris Collins drew a one-out walk and scored on Williams' double. Moore followed with a two-run homer and it was 18-7. Whaley and White singled and Sands capped the rally with a two-run double.

The Red Devils scored three runs in the bottom of the inning, but it wasn't enough to keep Ironton from the 10-run mercy rule win.
