PEDRO - As a team, the Rock Hill Redmen went 3-for-3.
Rock Hill got good pitching, hitting and defense as they beat the South Point Pointers 11-6 Wednesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
Aaron Miller struck out 10 and walked just one in going the distance for the Redmen. Kyle Lewis slugged a grand slam home run to highlight a 10-hit attack.
"That was one of our better defensive games. We hit well and South Point hit well, but we came up with the play when we needed it. And Aaron threw the ball well," Redmen coach Barry Litteral said.
The Pointers went up 1-0 in the first inning when Seth Craft singled, moved up on a ground out, and scored on Dale Kinney's base hit.
Rock Hill answered by taking a 2-1 lead in its half of the inning.
Nathan Litteral tripled and scored on a throwing error. Kyle Lewis then doubled and David Schug had an RBI single.
South Point came right back with three runs in the second inning.
Ronnie Fisher singled, Zane Joy doubled him to third, Craft singled in a run, Kinney walked, Staton hit into a force play, and an error scored the final run.
The Redmen answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning to lead 5-4.
Matt Wilson was hit by a pitch, Sam Lewis walked, and Nathan Litteral singled in a run. Miller was hit by a pitch and David Martin had a two-run single.
In the fourth, Miller singled, stole second, and Martin had an RBI single. Martin moved up on an outfield error and scored when Schug reached on an error.
The lead went to 11-4 in the fifth inning as the Redmen scored four.
Sam Lewis was safe on an error, Litteral singled, Miller was hit a second time, and Kyle Lewis unloaded his grand slam.
The Pointers managed two runs in the sixth.
Joy and Craft singled to start the rally. After a fielder's choice cut down Joy at home, Kinney hit into a fielder's choice, but an error allowed both runners to score.
