Symmes Valley pounds out 29 hits in win over East

SCIOTOVILLE - It was the Hit Parade.

The Symmes Valley Vikings banged out 29 base hits as they breezed past the Portsmouth East Tartans 20-6 Wednesday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

Kyle Gilmore was 3-4 with a double and two runs batted in, Cory Burcham 3-4 and a double, Nathan Pinkerman 3-4 with a double and two RBI, Joseph Patterson 3-3 and three RBI, Caleb Bland 3-3, Chad Higgins 2-4 and four RBI, Chad Artrip 3-3, Matt Owens and Jon Dillon 2-2 with two RBI.

The Vikings erupted for 13 runs in the first inning and were never behind.

Burcham got the win as he struck out six, walked three, and allowed five hits.

Symmes Valley (14-3, 6-3 SOC) hosts New Boston at home Friday.
