Artrip#039;s home runs spark Symmes Valley rout of New Boston

AID -- Chad Artrip went deep and deeper.
Artrip hit a pair of home runs including a grand slam to back Chase Higgins who pitched a two-hitter as the Symmes Valley Vikings whipped the New Boston Tigers 13-1 in five inning Friday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.
Artrip was 2-3 as Symmes Valley banged out 12 hits. Kyle Gilmore going 3-4 and Justin Holland 3-3. Higgins was 2-4 to help his own cause.
The Vikings play at Portsmouth Notre Dame Monday in a league game.

PORTSMOUTH -- Mike Howell outdueled two Green pitchers as the Portsmouth Clay Panthers nipped the Bobcats 2-1 Friday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.
Howell pitched a two-hitter, struck out eight and walked four in going the distance.
Ryan Bloomfield went 3.2 innings and reliever Mark Castro 3 innings as Clay pushed across a run in the bottom of the seventh with two outs to win.
Travis Klaiber and Brian Ramey each went 1-for-3 for the Bobcats only hits.
Green (4-9, 4-4 OVC) hosts Portsmouth East Monday in a league game.
