Woman pleads guilty to theft

A Coal Grove woman accused of stealing from two elderly people was sentenced to 30 days in jail and four years of community controlled sanctions under intensive supervised probation.

Lori Jean Viars, 32, of 207 Ridgeway St., entered a guilty plea to the two charges of theft from the elderly against her late last week in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.

Judge Richard Walton also ordered Viars to make restitution in the amount of $1,445.95.

Viars was accused of taking $100 from one elderly person, and a purse containing cash and other items from another earlier this year.

Also last week, Lisa D. Cremeans, 38, of 103 Private Drive 153, South Point, pleaded guilty to an amended indictment of attempt to commit theft. Cremeans was sentenced to three years community controlled sanctions. She was accused of stealing a car from another South Point resident.
