Lady Vikings blank East to claim sectional crown

AID - It's hard to beat a team twice in one season, let alone three times.
The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings might not have brought their "A" game, but "B-" proved to be good enough.
After beating East twice in the regular season, the Vikings had a sub-par performance but still managed to blank the Lady Tartans 6-0 behind the two-hit pitching of Kristen Crabtree in the Division IV sectional finals.
"We really didn't play that well, but we got a win and we're happy with that," coach Jeff "Odie" Estep said.
Crabtree struck out 11 and walked just two in picking up the win.
"Crabtree had a good outing. She threw the ball well again tonight. We're getting strong pitching by all three of our pitchers every time out," Estep said.
Symmes Valley is 17-6 overall and plays at Minford Wednesday. The Lady Vikings will face the winner of Richmond Dale Southeastern and Beaver Eastern.
Tommie Holbrook was 2-3 while Lori Harmon, Rebecca Capper and Erin Martin each went 2-4 as the Lady Vikings banged out 11 hits.
Neither team scored in the first inning, but Holbrook started a two-run second inning with a base hit, stole second, went to third on a ground out and came home when Capper singled.
Martin was safe on an error, Crabtree singled to load the bases, and Ginny Young delivered a two-run base hit.
A run in the fourth made it 4-0. Cassie Myers had a two-out single, Harmon singled, and Stephanie Burns and Holbrook walked to force in the run.
The Lady Vikings capped the scoring with two more runs in the sixth.
Harmon doubled to open the inning and scored on Holbrook's base hit. Kayla Bowman hit into a fielder's choice to put Holbrook at second, and Capper had an RBI single.
The Lady Vikings play at Gahanna Lincoln Saturday against Gahanna at 10 a.m. and Marysville at noon.
