After 33 years of working in the district, Ironton City Schools Superintendent Stephen Kingery participated in his last Board of Education meeting Monday night.
Kingery commented on how he has met and worked with wonderful people during his long career and had praise for incoming superintendent, IHS Principal Dean Nance.
"We have a new superintendent who will do a good job for us," he said. "He will be excellent for our district."
Kingery's future plans for his retirement were not concrete at this time, except that he is looking forward to playing golf and traveling.
"I want to be able to do the things I've always wanted to do. There's nothing specific," he said.
In other matters during the meeting, the board approved funding for the Ironton High School Student of the Year program, approved the five-year forecast, approved the new school calendar, and approved special education evaluation guidelines.
