River Sweep postponed until July

A wet spring and high waters on the Ohio River has caused the 15th annual River Sweep to be rescheduled from this Saturday until July 12.

River Sweep is an annual riverbank cleanup on the Ohio River and its tributaries that spans more than 3,000 miles of shoreline. The one-day event includes six states from Pittsburgh, Pa. to Cairo, Ill.

For the rescheduled event, the Lawrence – Scioto County Recycling and Litter Prevention program will sponsor two locations for the River Sweep in Lawrence County -- the Center Street Boat Ramp in Ironton and the Indian Guyan Boat Ramp in Braddrick.
