Most fees in the Lawrence County Recorder's Office will double beginning Aug. 1.

According to a release from Lawrence County Recorder Sue Ann Deeds, recent legislation enacted by the state legislature in its biennial budget mandates that county recorder fees be increased by 100 percent. The additional fees charged will be sent to the state with the first $50 million collected being designated for the Ohio Housing Trust Fund. Anything in excess of that $50 million collected annually by recorders across the state will go toward balancing Ohio's budget.

Notices will soon be sent to nearby attorneys, title companies and financial institutions, notifying them of the increase, the release states.
