NEW HAVEN, W.Va. (AP) - State and local authorities say a body found in the Ohio River could be an Ohio man believed to have drowned earlier this week.
Steven Bays of Gallipolis, Ohio, apparently drowned when he fell out of a boat north of Letart Island, according to authorities with the state Division of Natural Resources. Bays did not know how to swim.
The body found Tuesday has been sent to the state medical examiner's office in South Charleston for identification. At least five people called Mason County 911 on Sunday afternoon and told dispatchers an unidentified man had fallen out of a boat, said Chuck Blake, director of Mason County Emergency Services.
