COAL GROVE- The annual Relay for Life will be Saturday at the Dawson-Bryant High School track field.

Last year more than 300 people took part in the event that is meant to raise money for and awareness of cancer research through the American Cancer Society.

This year, all activities will be concentrated into a one-day event as opposed to a two-day relay, as was the case last year. The relay begins Saturday at 8 a.m.

At dusk, there will be a luminary lighting service. People may purchase a luminary for themselves or for a loved one. To purchase a luminary, call Ranita Mullens at 533-2023, or the American Cancer Society at 1-888-227-6446.

Throughout the day Saturday, there will also be hot air balloon rides, live music, karaoke and other activities. A Relay for Life queen will be introduced at some point during the day's activities.

Last year's Relay for Life raised more than $20,000.
