It is a chance to get acquainted -- an open house Saturday will allow potential tenants to get a look at the Park Avenue Apartments.

Manager Dan Palmer said visitors will get the chance to tour the building, see available apartments and speak with people who live there.

"If someone is interested in an apartment, we invite them to come and see what we offer. They'll be very pleased once they see the Park Avenue Apartments," Palmer said. "We have a very beautiful facility. I think people will be very impressed once they come through the main entrance and see the investment the Ironton-Lawrence County Community Action Organization has made there."

Members of a newly-formed tenant council will act as guides. The tenant council was formed a few weeks ago to make suggestions on way to improve the facility. Palmer said he hopes that eventually the council will make suggestions on social activities for the residents.

The open house will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. WLGC radio personality Chuck Black will have a live remote broadcast from the complex.

McCauley Furniture is donating furniture for one apartment for the open house. The furnishings will be used to show prospective tenants how the apartment could look, as opposed to showing them an empty apartment. The furnishing will not be a permanent part of the apartment, however.

The CAO took over management of the 50-unit apartment complex in March.
