Rape case goes to grand jury

The case of a Proctorville man arrested last week and accused of rape will go to the grand jury.

Joseph Chapman, 19, of 106 Grant St., appeared Monday in Lawrence County Municipal Court and signed a waiver of preliminary hearing. Judge Donald Capper set a $75,000 cash bond for Chapman.

He was arrested last week and charged with having unlawful sexual contact with a female juvenile at a residence in Union Township. He remains in the Lawrence County Jail. His arrest was the result of an investigation by Lawrence County Children's Services and the
