It's nice to host your own tournament. It's even nicer if you win.

The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers had a nice Saturday morning as they won their own annual volleyball invitational tournament against South Point, Coal Grove, and Portsmouth.

Ironton beat Coal Grove 18-16, 15-11, downed Portsmouth 15-7, 15-3, and topped South Point in the deciding match 15-13, 15-12.

South Point stopped Portsmouth 15-7, 15-11 and Coal Grove 15-4, 15-13. Portsmouth downed Coal Grove 15-4, 15-13 in the other match.

Ironton senior Jamie Parker was voted the tournament's Most Valuable Player while teammates Andrea Rudmann and Sarah Cartmell were named to the all-tournament team.

Also selected all-tournament were Alicia Joyce and Jamie Moore of South Point, Sarah Triplett and Marissa Collins of Coal Grove, and Sarah Barney and Cassie Downey of Portsmouth.

Ironton plays a tri-match at 5:30 Monday at Chesapeake.
