The summer golf season was above par for Nathan Kerns.
The seventh grade student at Ironton Junior High School spent his summer playing a series of golf tournaments that concluded with the Ironton Country Club Junior Club Under 12 Division Championship.
The ICC junior club championship came on the heels of his Player of the Year runner-up spot as he had the second most points overall in the 10-12 age division of the annual Tri-State Junior Golf Circuit.
Playing the TSJGC, Nathan placed fifth at the Sugarwood tournament. But he came back stronger in his second tournament as he won a sudden death playoff hole to claim the Lavalette title.
Kerns made it two in a row in dramatic fashion again as he won the Bellefonte Country Club tournament on the second hole of a sudden death playoff.
Next up was the Riviera Golf Club tournament and
Kerns finished third following a four hole playoff.
The final tournament of the year on the
Tri-State Junior Golf Circuit was held at Guyan Country Club and Kerns again claimed a third place finish.
Nathan is the son of Jeff and Heather Kerns of Ironton.
