Biomass forwards check for delinquent taxes to county

SOUTH POINT- It as been a bone of contention between county officials and Biomass Energy, LLC brass for some time now - back taxes the company owed.
On Thursday, Lawrence County Commissioners officially accepted a check from Biomass for $109,125.59, the entity's outstanding tax obligation.
In a letter to the commission, Biomass Group President/CEO Murray Sinclaire said that the Biomass Group "has restructured and recapitalized and now has both the organization and the resources to prevent any further recurrence of these delinquencies."
In the letter, Sinclaire also said that he hoped recent changes on the local "landscape" would lead to better relations between Biomass and its Lawrence County neighbors.
"We look forward to a new era of cooperation," Sinclaire wrote in the letter.
Commissioners accepted the check without comment.
