Fire still burning in Perry Twp.

FAYETTE TOWNSHIP - A fire damaged a house on Deering-Middle Leatherwood Road in Fayette Township this morning.

Firefighters from five volunteer fire departments remained on the scene as of 9 a.m. this morning. A spokeswoman for Lawrence County 911 said the blaze broke out just before 3 a.m.

It is not known as of press time who owns or lives in the residence, but the spokeswoman said people were in the house at the time of the fire.

The extent of damage to the residence is also not known at this time.

This is the second house fire in Lawrence County in the last week. A fire destroyed a residence on North Second Street in Hanging Rock Friday afternoon.
