Students lend hand to needy

Some Ironton Junior High School students have turned the spirit of giving into something tangible for fellow students who are less fortunate.
Members of the IJHS Kids Care Club last week bought presents for 12 needy seventh and eighth grade students. The gifts were purchased with money earned from candy sales and donations. In addition, teachers also adopted two other students.
"They loved it," Principal Jerry Watson said. "We let the students pick out the presents. I think they enjoyed the idea that the money they earned went to help students here in our school."
"A lot of parents indicated they were very appreciative of what we were doing, appreciative of the fact that we were willing to help out."
