Ironton teams in holiday tournaments

It's anything but a Christmas vacation for the Ironton basketball teams.

The Fighting Tigers and Lady Fighting Tigers are both participating in holiday tournaments this week.

The Ironton boys tangle with Massillon Jackson in the first game at 6:30 p.m. Westerville North meets Westerville South at 8 p.m.

The losers on Monday play in the consolation game at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Winner follow in the championship game.

The Lady Fighting Tigers begin a three-day run at the Boyd County Holiday Classic on Monday.

Ironton meets tournament favorite Lexington Dunbar at 2 p.m. in the first game. Ashland and Pikeville meet at 3:45

followed by Belfry and Lexington Christian at 5:30

and host Boyd County taking on Fleming County at 7:15.

"It's a really tough field. We've got our work cut out for us. It will be very competitive," Ironton coach Amy Hughes said.

Times will remain the same Tuesday, but the schedule will change according who wins or loses.

On Wednesday, the games will be played at 10 a.m., 11:15 a.m., 1:15 p.m. and the title game at 3 p.m.
